Detecting Tooth Decay with Spectra Scan
Spectra Scan is a digital imaging device used to detect hidden tooth decay accurately, quickly, and in its earliest stages. It accurately exposes areas of tooth decay without scratching, probing, or “opening up the tooth.” This provides a greater chance of identifying, treating, and retaining a natural tooth without the need for expensive and time-consuming restorations.
How does Spectra Scan work?
Spectra Scan is used during a regular dental checkup. It is a hand-held camera that resembles an electric toothbrush that detects tooth decay using light-induced fluorescence. A visual display on a monitor shows tooth decay in red and healthy tooth in green. Along with the colors is a numerical scale to help help measure the extent of the decay.
